FAQs and support
Frequently asked questions
Find answers to common questions about demand management. If you need further advice, contact your Research Manager, School, Institute or faculty research support team.
Can I submit directly to the funder if the call is demand managed?
No. If the funding call is being demand managed by Queen Mary, you must follow the internal process before submitting to the funder. Only applications selected through the internal process should proceed where an institutional cap applies.
What is the difference between the internal deadline and the funder deadline?
The internal deadline is the date by which you must submit your Expression of Interest (EOI) for Queen Mary review. The funder deadline is the final external submission deadline. Internal deadlines are earlier to allow time for review, feedback, costing, approvals and final submission.
Will every capped funding call be managed centrally?
No. A central demand management process is normally used only where Queen Mary needs to select between applications from more than one faculty or University Research Institute (URI). Some funding calls may instead be managed locally by a faculty, URI or the Centre for Early Career Researchers (CERC).
How will my EOI be assessed?
Your EOI will be assessed against the funder's published assessment criteria and scoring rubric, where available. The review panel will select the strongest application or applications to progress.
Will I receive feedback?
Applicants whose EOIs are reviewed by a central panel should receive feedback. Feedback will usually highlight the strengths of the application and identify areas for improvement.
Who should I speak to before applying?
Start by contacting your Research Manager, School, Institute or faculty research support team. For costing and submission requirements, follow the usual JRMO costing and approval process.
